Translation: Kansas City Wedding.

Yeah, I know I am a little late on this outfit translation and it has self-shot in the mirror pics...

It's bad, but it's all I have. The only people I knew at the wedding were in the wedding party and they were occupied all day so I didn't have a chance to take better pics.

Disclaimers aside, I love this dress!!! I received tons of compliments on it, it was comfortable, and it is on trend. Yellow is in this fall and I am embracing it.

The dress is no longer available, unfortunately, but here are some alternatives if you share my fashion sense:

Tibi, Solid Silk Shift Dress in Gold ($277)

Victoria's Secret, Cut-Out Shift Dress in Sunspark Yellow ($49.50)

KAS New York, Fifi Shift Dress ($68 on sale at Neiman)

KC Wedding Inspiration.

I will be spending part of this long weekend in Kansas City, MO for one of college roomies' wedding (Congrats Jess and Luke!). I was wondering what I would wear until I received an email this morning... 40% off one full-price item at Banana Republic. Score.

I looked with the thought that I need some more work items. However, that objective fell by the wayside when I came across this beautiful yellow dress.

After visiting three BR stores on Michigan Avenue, I finally found it! (Yes, there are 3 BR stores within 3 blocks of Michigan Avenue. Ridiculous store planning Gap Brands - move one of those suckers to the Loop, where your target market works. I know I can't be the only girl that shops on her work lunch break...)

Here is what I have put together so far:

Banana Republic yellow dress / Le Silla black pumps / Foldover clutch

Only thing is that I am missing a black statement necklace. If only I would have received this email earlier I would have ordered one of Jill from Classy With A Kick's lace necklaces. How perfect would the below necklace have been in black?

Better late than never... For only $20, I just ordered mine in black and the yellow above. Double score.

Polka Dot.

Printed jeans are everywhere. The lace print, the leopard print, etc. I am not a huge fan. However, one print has definitely stood out from the rest and has me reconsidering my negative view of printed jeans - the polka dot.

Abercrombie & Fitch jeans

From top to bottom: Paige Denim - Polka Dot Verdugo Skinny Jeans, $190 (via shopbop); [blanknyc] - Printed Skinny Jeans, $110 (via Madewell); AG - Stevie Polka Dot Ankle, $99.95 (via Anthropologie); A&F - Super Skinny Ankle Jeans, $39 on sale! (via Abercrombie & Fitch)

I mean how friggin' cute are these? I might just have to test drive the A&F pair before spending on a trend I was initially against. I haven't purchased anything from A&F since college (without quantifying - that was a long time ago!), so this should be interesting. I will let you know how it goes...

Best. Jeans. Ever.

Source: gap.com via Lauren on Pinterest

These are The. Best. Jeans. Ever.

I consider myself a jeans pro. I have over 50 pairs. I worked at Gap and was the "Denim Specialist." I know the cuts, the shrink, the materials. I even have a coffee table book on "The Blue Jean." With that being said, these jeans are amazing. Not too skinny/tight; comfy as pajamas; don't really stretch that much; perfect length for heels and hold a "cuff up" to wear flats. What more could you ask for?

I have one pair and am considering ordering more. Is that obsessive or just safe? Do you buy more than one of something if you adore it?

Divine.

Divine. Her and this dress, both. I wish I had an ounce of her style at that age. I am sure that having amazing designers on your speed-dial helps... Just sayin'. Either way, she is just amazing.

The Pose.

I am sorry but WTF was up with Angie's pose tonight on the Oscars? If you have to pose like you are mid-lunge for your ginormous dress to look any bit fashionable then you probably picked the wrong dress Angie. You are Angelina Frickin' Jolie - I know you had a ton of choices. But really this was just ridiculous.

And frickin' eat something woman!!! You look too skinny. Unhealthy skinny. Not attractive.

UPDATE: Angie's Right Leg officially has its own twitter account. Appropriately named @Angiesrightleg. I am a follower. Win.

Another UPDATE: Angie's pose has become a revolution. Legbombers unite!

An Outfit Only a Blogger Would Appreciate.

You know those days when you want to be comfy and stylish? This was one of those days. I put this on and was pleasantly surprised that it worked better in translation than it did in my head. Small victory.

However, one of the things about being in law school is that most of my co-fellows have a pretty simple style. So when I come in with something a little edgy or different only a few appreciate it. So I will have to tweak this one and recycle it for a new audience.

Oh! And do you want to know the ironic thing about this outfit? It's funky, but it's all from GAP - the epitome of simple style. Ha!

T-shirt, GAP (similar style)
Sweater, GAP (similar style)
Jeans, GAP (similar style*)
Boots, GAP ($39.99 - currently available in stores) (similar style*)

*GAP, Old Navy, and Piperlime are offering 30% online purchases until 01.19.12 with code "NEWYOU".

Hell Has Frozen Over.

To say that I am not a Miley Cyrus fan is an understatement. The girl just bugs.

But I recently saw the David Koma dress that she wore to this year's People's Choice Awards and I found myself falling in love. David Koma where have you been all my life? If you can make Miley Cyrus look fashionable then you are a miracle worker.

The details are futuristic, intriguing.

And the back... Stunning!

I am excited to see what else David Koma has up his sleeve.

Night Out Inspiration.

Just received my Allsaints boots and this is the look I came up with to break them in... Headed downtown for some drinks with friends tomorrow night. I will post a picture this weekend with how it all translated.

Therapy.

Why is it that I always find amazing stores when I travel? But then again, maybe it is a good thing. It could be trouble if they were closer.

My new find was a great recommendation from Sariah while I was visiting San Fran for NYE and it was a GREAT one!

Meet Therapy. A group of shops with various locations around the Bay Area. They have a great collection of gifts, books, shoes, Nixon watches, home furnishings, men's and women's clothing...

...And with a collection of Hobo wallets and Bags that puts Bloomie's to shame. How could you not fall in love with this place?

They also carry such brands as Obey, Jeffrey Campbell, Toms, San Diego Hat Company, and Volcom. When we were there they were having their annual 40% off sale. At one location (yes, we went to two locations back-to-back) there was security because people have been known to fight over couches, shoes, lamps, etc. Crazy, but understandable.

I saw a million things I wanted and am now searching the www for because we hit the 40% off sale too late...

Jeffrey Campbell Sawyer Pumps

Jeffrey Campbell Dunsmore Flats

So if you find either of these in a size 7 please let me know :)

Until then I guess I will have to wait for Therapy's online store to go live...
