My landlord allowed me to pick out the colors for my apartment because she said it needed to be painted. She told me that I could pick out some Benjamin Moore colors and she would have the walls painted by the time arrived. A landlord that doesn't require stark white walls? Heaven!!!!
So I went to town with my friend Amy picking colors and even adding an accent wall in the living room (to be covered later). When I arrived, they were perfectly painted and looking good!
That's when I noticed that my bedroom color matched my favorite nail color, exactly! (I know because my favorite nail color is one of the few things I brought with me and didn't pack for the moving truck.)
My favorite nail color right now is Zoya's "Kristen":
Zoya describes the color as "a gull gray nail polish with a mild bluish hue."
Well Benjnmin Moore calls the color "Manor Blue."
Benjamin Moore describes the color as "a hint of violet distinguishes this elegant mid-tone blue-gray. Muted and well-mannered, it adds a touch of sophistication to any setting."
Tomato - tomatoh. Who cares? All I know is that I love this color and can't get enough of it if I picked it out twice.
I think they call this a signature color?

Music Monday.
This song is fabulous. Love me some Florence!
And the video actually makes me want to see the movie more than the trailer did (which didn't make me want to see the movie). It looks like a dark spin on a children's classic with 300-like special effects. Sign me up.

Played Out.
I know that this song is hitting it's max in re rotation (I know this because my 12-year old niece thinks it's the coolest thing since sliced bread = it has reached play-out status.) However, the choreography is awesome. A little entertainment to get you by until the long weekend!

Bieber.
Yes, this was my status update this morning. What's even better is the conversation that followed on FB. Last names have been redacted to protect the innocent (except my own - guilty as charged.)...
Funny thing is that everyone that commented or liked were women. Hmmm. Maybe Biebs does have some charm?
Oh and one more thing: I AM DONE WITH LAW SCHOOL! Took my last final this morning.

Music Monday.
One more random fact about me - I love rock music, especially all things Eddie Vedder. (Random fact about Vedder - he grew up splitting time between two great cities, San Diego and Chicago. Sound familiar?)
If you are presently in your late twenties to mid forties, then you remember Pearl Jam being a key fixture of 90s rock. This past fall Pearl Jam released a DVD and CD soundtrack for their twentieth anniversary. Pearl Jam Twenty tells the story of the past twenty years through their live music performances. Produced by another San Diego local and fellow music lover, Cameron Crowe, the film is filled with riveting performances, and after watching the movie I feel vested in Pearl Jam's rare, continued success. Each of the members and the band as a whole have been through so much in those twenty years and it is a feat that they are still together.
Lately I have been listening to the soundtrack on repeat - especially the first song, Release (above). If any Pearl Jam album was permanently in your tape/CD deck, or even if you are just a fan of classic rock or enduring bands, you have to watch this film. Let me know what you think...

The Versatile Blogger Award.
I received my first blog award! I am not sure I deserve it because I have been so MIA lately with school and the move but I am honored! The always amazing and most importantly, real Britt at Secondhand Magpie nominated me for the The Versatile Blogger Award. It works a little something like this:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you.
2. Write 7 random things about yourself.
3. Spread the love to 5 more bloggers.
1. I only went by my last name in college because 12 out of the 80 girls in my sorority had the first name Lauren. Many people still only know me as "Hargrove" and don't know my first name. In fact, I tattooed it on my ribs because my last name is such a big part of me. It will become my middle name if I ever get married.
2. I am getting a tattoo removed. I have 5 but I am removing a star from my lower hip because it doesn't match the rest and to put it honestly, I am over it. The removal is more pain and a lot more expensive than actually getting the tattoo. However, I can't wait until it is done and wouldn't think of removing any of the others.
3. I have never lived on my own. It was a goal of mine this year to get my own apartment. I move in next week!
4. I am a lot more girlie than first impression would lead you to believe. I have always been a tomboy (I blame having two older brothers for this). However, I love clothes and shoes, and I have a TON of them.
5.Speaking of clothes, I color coordinate my closet. I go color, then style within in each color (except for dresses and skirts, which are separate). It makes finding things, matching, and getting dressed so much easier.
6. I run best to trance music. It is very rhythmic and helps me get keep pace while focusing on my breathing. I just zone out and the time passes. Here is my current fave right now.
7. I never wore gold until a few months ago. I hated it. The fact that I wear it now is just crazy to me. I blame J on my being a traitor to silver because the Rolex his dad gave him and his signet ring are pretty gold/blingy. They slowly tore down my resistance.
...and now for my nominations...
1. Katie from burritos + champagne - a new mom and former sorority sister who is witty and hilarious.
2. Jen from my new (york) life - another witty sorority sister who now has moved back to the west coast. fantastic writer!
3. David from Self Portraits - one of the few good friends I will keep from law school. a guy who loves baseball and is real, and is willing to write about life.
4. Marcie from a sigh and sanity - a new find that I am loving. again, witty and real.
5. Alessia from un giorno da leone - another sorority sister who lives in Chicago. a real girl that i plan to see once i make the big move.
